Grade 6 studied Australia last term and what better way of artistic expression of the only continent country but Aboriginal Art. The learnt of the signs and symbols the dots and the dream land and created at first leaf paintings and then beautiful aboriginal masks.
Now Grade 5 was envious they wanted to try it too! So we did an Indian form of art very similar – Gond Painting. It is the practice of the tribals of Central India to decorate their houses with bright colours, animal and birds motifs with dots and dashes to ward off evil and bring prosperity. The children of Grade enjoyed playing with colour and worked patiently with the dots and dashes.
Now both classes came alive with colour in distinct yet similar fashion!
