Art and Design

GCSE art is a subject for senior students (grade 9 and 10); For students who are willing to actively engage in the creative process of art, in order to develop as effective independent learners, and as critical, reflective thinkers with enquiring minds.

At Yellow Train it is a space for children to be taken seriously, as artists in their own right.

With this post we will take you on a tour of our Art and Design Classroom

Natural forms, inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe

Walking around looking for flowers to paint, like Georgia O'Keeffe, every tiny detail larger than life. Weeks spent with natural forms: studying texture, form, colour, shape; appreciating it's beauty and looking for it in folk/ traditional art forms as well.

Still life lessons:

The magic of 'Still life' is that it shows us new ways of looking at everyday objects, helping us celebrate the ordinary.

It's also a fun, practical way to learn about the Cubists, who did a lot of still life paintings ..in a new way, different from anyone before them.
